This Privacy Policy explains how Sopeasy, LLC, doing business as Sey ("Sey," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use sey.so, the Sey dashboard, public feedback portals, the in-app widget, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
If you use Sey on behalf of an organization, that organization may separately control information submitted through its workspace. In that situation, you should also review the organization's privacy notices.
Information we collect
Account and workspace information
When you create or manage an account, we may collect your name, email address, profile image, authentication details, workspace membership and role, invitations, workspace name, website, branding preferences, domains, and related settings.
If you sign in with Google, we receive the account information needed to authenticate you, subject to your Google settings and Google's privacy terms. We do not receive your Google password.
Customer and end-user content
We store the information you and other users submit to the Services. This can include:
- feedback titles and descriptions;
- votes, comments, tags, statuses, and roadmap items;
- changelog posts and related publishing information;
- uploaded files and attachment metadata;
- names, email addresses, profile images, or external identifiers supplied for feedback participants; and
- other content placed in a workspace or public portal.
Workspace owners decide what they collect from their customers and whether content is public. If you submit information to a Sey-powered portal or widget, the workspace owner is responsible for its collection and use, while Sey processes it to provide the Services.
Billing information
Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We receive billing-related records such as a customer identifier, subscription status, plan, renewal dates, and limited transaction information. Sey does not store complete payment-card numbers.
Device, session, and usage information
We may collect IP addresses, user-agent information, device and browser details, session identifiers, timestamps, referring pages, pages viewed, feature interactions, diagnostic events, and security logs. We use necessary cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies to keep users signed in, maintain embedded sessions, remember settings, prevent abuse, and understand use of the Services.
Information processed by AI features
Sey may process feedback text through third-party AI services to create vector embeddings, identify related feedback, improve search, or provide other clearly presented AI-assisted features. Do not submit sensitive personal information to an AI-enabled field unless it is necessary and you are authorized to do so.
How we use information
We use information to:
- provide, maintain, and secure the Services;
- authenticate users and manage accounts, workspaces, and permissions;
- collect, organize, search, display, and publish feedback and product updates;
- process subscriptions and administer plan limits;
- deliver transactional messages, invitations, and service notices;
- provide support and respond to requests;
- monitor performance, diagnose problems, and prevent fraud or misuse;
- improve existing features and develop new ones; and
- comply with law and enforce our agreements.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information to perform our contract, pursue legitimate interests such as securing and improving Sey, comply with legal obligations, or act with consent.
How we disclose information
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information in the following circumstances:
Service providers
We use vendors that help us operate Sey, including cloud hosting, database and object-storage providers, email delivery services, analytics providers, authentication providers, Google services, and Stripe for payments. These providers may process information only to perform services for us under their own terms and applicable data-protection obligations.
Workspace owners and other users
Information submitted through a workspace may be available to its owners, administrators, members, and other authorized users. Content published to a public feedback board, roadmap, or changelog can be viewed by anyone and may be indexed, copied, or shared outside Sey.
Legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with law or legal process, protect the rights and safety of Sey or others, investigate abuse, or enforce our agreements.
Business transfers
Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets. We will take reasonable steps to require the recipient to respect this Policy.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain legitimate business records, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary based on the type of information, workspace settings, account status, and legal requirements.
When an account or workspace is deleted, associated information may remain temporarily in backups, security records, or systems where immediate deletion is not technically practical. Public content may also remain in copies made by others before deletion.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and you are responsible for keeping credentials confidential, using secure devices, and promptly reporting suspected unauthorized access.
International transfers
Sey and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have different data-protection laws from your location. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a decision about a request.
You can update some information in the Services. To make another privacy request, email team@sey.so. We may need to verify your identity. If your request concerns information controlled by a Sey customer, contact that workspace owner first; we will assist them where required.
You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Children's privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to Sey, contact us so we can review and address it.
Third-party services
The Services may link to or integrate with third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Policy.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as Sey changes or as required by law. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when a change is material.
